I am from the Chicagoland area. My goal at one time was to be a performing artist like my sister, Jody Watley. In 1993, I graduated high school and had a music contract with MC Hammer. I was excepted to Columbia College Chicago. I worked part time at Bonita's Hair Studio. The stylist/owner, Bonita had asked me if I ever considered doing hair as a profession because I had a natural talent for it. I had NEVER considered doing hair. I moved to L.A. in '97 and transferred to Cal State Northridge to continue my studies in music. Hammer had went through rough moment and so that whole thing fell through. I continued to stay on the path of music. Taking my life on a different path, I ended up moving to San Francisco in 2000. In 2006, I decided to do an apprenticeship program for hair. Having 2 daughters at this time in my life, this proved workable. I received my apprenticeship license in 2006 and my professional license in 2008. I now work at 2 salons as an independent contractor.
